CNN pushed out three people in its fake news scandal. One of them was its Investigative Editor, a guy by the name of Eric Lichtblau who has a Pulitzer prize.
Lichtblau's name appeared on plenty of CNN hit pieces targeting Trump, including multiple Comey pieces. Then there was the attack on Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. He had his name on a semi-retracted piece on Comey's testimony which carries the following stamp.
CORRECTION AND UPDATE: This article was published before Comey released his prepared opening statement. The article and headline have been corrected to reflect that Comey does not directly dispute that Trump was told multiple times he was not under investigation in his prepared testimony released after this story was published.
So it's not as if there hadn't been problems before.
Lichtblau's name has appeared plenty of times on anonymously sourced Trump pieces.
Former FBI Director James Comey now believes that President Donald Trump was trying to influence his judgment about the Russia probe, a person familiar with his thinking says, but whether that influence amounts to obstruction of justice remains an open question.
Here's how CNN described him before.
So let's go to his assistant managing editor of CNN's Investigative Unit Eric Lichtblau, who has been reporting on Comey for more than a decade. In his prior role, he's led "The New York Times"' reporting on the relationship between the Trump presidential campaign and Russia.
So the Fake News scandal predictably drags in more of the media.
At the Times, Lichblau had his name on pieces like, "CIA had evidence of Russian effort to help Trump earlier than believed".
The irony is that Lichtblau got his Pulitzer for attacking the Bush admin over surveillance claims.
