This reads like a parody, but it's really just the absurd state of the culture war today.

Hey remember Star Trek? It wasn't diverse enough before. So we're going to bring it back. And we're going to focus more on diversity. Because that was apparently its really big draw.

The showrunner behind the new Star Trek TV series just revealed alot of fresh information about the new series, including that the upcoming series will focus on a female lead character — likely played by an actor with a “level of diversity” — who will be a lieutenant commander on a starship.

Because the real priority for most people when choosing to watch is the level of the show's diversity.

"On selecting a diverse cast: “Star Trek started with a wonderful expression of diversity in its cast … our lead of the show is going to be subject of that same level of who’s the best actor and also what can we say about diversity on the show. We haven’t cast her yet, so we don’t know what level of diversity she will be, but that’s forefront in our minds."

We're going to pick the best actor... based on their level of diversity. Diversity will be at the forefront of our diverse minds as we diversely look for ways to make a transgender lesbian Pakistani into the show's new lead.

Gay characters? “Absolutely we’re having a gay character,” Fuller said.

No word on anything else about the show except that there will be lots of diversity. And a gay character. Because that is what people find most compelling when choosing what to watch.
