I didn't think that anything could get the Dems to jettison a terrible leftist idea rooted in identity politics. But bad poll numbers seem to be doing it.
House Dems have refused to vote for their own Abolish ICE bill calling it a political stunt.
Democrats who drafted a bill to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE] suddenly announced Thursday night that they would vote against it if the legislation went to the floor, after House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy told Fox News he intended to call their bluff.
"We know Speaker [Paul] Ryan is not serious about passing our 'Establishing a Humane Immigration Enforcement System Act,' so members of Congress, advocacy groups, and impacted communities will not engage in this political stunt," Reps. Mark Pocan of Wisconsin, Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Adriano Espaillat of New York told The Hill and other news outlets. "If Speaker Ryan puts our bill on the floor, we plan to vote no and will instead use the opportunity to force an urgently needed and long-overdue conversation on the House floor."
DNC boss Tom Perez won't even say the words in his own overdue conversation.
“There’s been calls to end, obviously the family separation policy,” said host Chris Hayes. “There have also been calls to abolish ICE. There’s legislation that’s been introduced by members of Congress, some Democratic Senators have endorsed that position as others, do you think we should abolish ICE?”
Perez did not directly answer and instead deflected the question by saying, “We should defeat Donald Trump.”
“Wait, did you just say we should abolish Donald Trump?” Hayes responded.
Perez did not acknowledge the comment and went on to say Trump has a “tolerance for total ethical lapses,”
Desperately shifting to random Trump bashing is typical of how the Dems handle tough questions.
Meanwhile Eric Holder joins other top Dems in trying the only thing that seems to dissuade Dems from suicidal leftist policies.
Former Attorney General Eric Holder said Friday that the growing calls from Democrats to abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are a "gift" to Republicans.
"I don’t think that substantively or politically that makes a great deal of sense," Holder, who served under former President Obama, told host Chuck Todd on MSNBC's "MTP Daily."
“In some ways, you're giving the Republicans a gift by saying we're going to have a debate now about whether ICE Should be abolished."
The midterms are coming and our hopes of taking Congress are going. Quick, run away from #AbolishICE!
