"Came to this country for a better life" is #4 in the media's top 5 immigration narrative cliches.
It's true of course.
Few people go anywhere for a worse life. The illegal migrants who cross the border to clean floors or work in the fields want a better life. So do the drug dealers and gang members. If they wanted a worse life, they would move to Cuba, Venezuela or Detroit.
"Came to this country for a better life" is meaningless lazy spin. It's another reminder that the media is in the PR game not the journalism game.
Every MS-13 gang member came to this country searching for a better life. The problem is that he also made life worse for others. And that's true of illegal immigration in general.
The media insists on seeing illegal immigration as a net benefit for the migrant. Obviously it is. But it's a loss for Americans.
