Coincidence or not? You decide.
Here's the late December story about that infamous laptop.
The State Department Friday released a trove of emails from Huma Abedin that the feds discovered on her husband Anthony Weiner’s laptop — including at least five that were marked as “classified.”
Most of the emails were heavily redacted because they contained classified material — but one that was sent on Nov. 25 2010 was addressed to “Anthony Campaign,” an apparent address belonging to Weiner.
Now there's a new development in the strangest marriage around the Clintons that doesn't involve the Clintons.
Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin and her jailed sext-a-holic hubby Anthony Weiner have ended their pending divorce case.
Identical statements from their lawyers Wednesday cited the scandal-plagued couple’s desire to protect their 6-year-old son by settling outside court — but experts say the real reason could be to shield one another from a potential federal probe.
Some lawyers are suggesting that Huma could be using Weiner for the spousal immunity.
Stutman, a prominent Manhattan divorce lawyer who’s not involved in the case, speculated that Weiner and Abedin might want to stay married to invoke spousal immunity.
Two more leading divorce lawyers agreed that spousal immunity may have been the reason for withdrawing the case.
“He easily could be called in by a grand jury to testify against her so by dropping the lawsuit he can exercise the marital privilege,” matrimonial lawyer Suzanne Bracker told The Post.
“When you’re married to someone you cannot be compelled to testify against them.”
A third attorney, Bonnie Rabin, said the “spousal privilege issue is out there considering the investigations.”
Weiner would be a natural figure in the case. He would know quite a bit about how his wife handled emails. And in his current situation, he might have few reasons to hold back. Staying married gives him cover and gives her cover. That's probably what the relationship was always about. Huma, like Hillary, never seemed shocked or outraged. Just inconvenienced.
And since any serious investigation of Hillary has to go through Huma, staying married to Weiner also protects Hillary Clinton.
