It worked for Hillary. It's bound to work for the Dems.
The campaign arm for House Democrats on Wednesday tried out a new slogan: “I mean, have you seen the other guys?”
The sticker slogan, one of several floated as part of a fundraising effort by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), caused a stir on social media, where many wondered why the party would try out such a self-deprecating campaign line.
That was pretty much the slogan that Hillary ran on. It worked so well that she's now doing a national tour blaming everyone else for her defeat.
The trouble with the slogan is that Americans have seen the "other guys".
Republicans dominate state offices, the House, the Senate and now the White House. Voters have seen the Dems and decided that they would rather vote for the "other guys" even when they're deeply unhappy with them.
The new Dem slogan is more of the same urban elitist "I can't believe anyone votes for Republicans routine." It was old when Pauline Kael was using it. It's one of the reasons why the Dems keep losing. Their new slogan is an eyeroll that dismisses most voters while ignoring the reasons why voters keep rejecting them.
