Anyone who thought that the left would show an ounce of decency after the GOP shootings was living in a very optimistic fantasy world.
Here's the New York Times' editorial.
…In 2011, when Jared Lee Loughner opened fire in a supermarket parking lot, grievously wounding Representative Gabby Giffords and killing six people, including a 9-year-old girl, the link to political incitement was clear. Before the shooting, Sarah Palin’s political action committee circulated a map of targeted electoral districts that put Ms. Giffords and 19 other Democrats under stylized cross hairs.
There was no excuse for this lie when it was first unveiled. In 2017, it's a smear that shows that the media will shamelessly lie without scruples or any notion of ethics.
Loughner had no politics. The Times editorial board neglects to mention that he murdered a Republican judge. But that wouldn't fit the agenda.
Sarah Palin's map, of the sort that political groups across the spectrum have used, had zero link to Loughner's actions. To the extent that Loughner had any politics (which was very little) he appeared to have been to the left. He was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic. And his issues with Giffords long predated the electoral map. It appears to date back to '07.
His goodbye message read...
"Goodbye friends. Please don't be mad at me. The literacy rate is below 5%. I haven't talked to one person who is literate. I want to make it out alive. The longest war in the history of the United States. Goodbye. I'm saddened with the current currency and job employment. I had a bully at school. Thank you. P.S. --plead the fifth!"
So clearly this was Sarah Palin's fault.
The lie being pushed by the New York Times is despicable. It's knowingly despicable. And it's not unique. The Times is making it clear that it will use its megaphone to spread lies and smears. That it has no concern for truth. Only its power to enforce a leftist agenda.
