It's hard to think of a more obvious clash of cultures than a Bernie Sanders supporter opening fire on a Republican charity baseball practice and having one of his victims be treated by an Iraq War vet.

Rep. Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, told ABC News that he and Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., were among those who tended to Scalise's gunshot wound before medics arrived on the scene. Wenstrup, an Iraq War veteran and medical doctor, said they ran to Scalise on the field and "did what I did in Iraq."

"You assess their wounds and you cut down their clothes and look for the wound and make sure that you stop the bleeding," Wenstrup said. "He was losing a lot of blood.

"I can tell you firsthand Steve Scalise was extremely brave and did what he was supposed to do to minimize any damage," Wenstrup added. "He had to lay in position to minimize his damage."

When James T. Hodgkinson, a left-wing supporter of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, opened fire, the endangered included the 10-year-old son of a Republican congressman.

"Steve was playing second base ... Steve's OK, we believe. But Steve dragged himself about 15 yards off near second base onto the field. He was laying motionless out there, but we couldn't get to him until the shooting had stopped. After a time, another staffer ran in with a leg wound. He was shot in the leg. I think it was ... one of Roger Williams staffers. (He) was then shot in the field and continued to run and limped into the dug out and we got a belt ... Joe Barton's boy, a 10-year-old, was here. And we got him in the dugout, we put him under a bench"

Barton has said that,

"There were dozens, if not hundreds, of shots fired. It was scary. I was behind the dugout. My son Jack got under a SUV. My other son Brad was in the batting cage."

I hope the Resistance is very proud of itself today.
