Somehow conspiracy theories always end up in the same boring place. The Jews. The media is growing bored of the same old Trump Putin thing. How do you spice up a boring old lefty conspiracy theory? Just add Jews.
Politico offers up a cutting edge investigation which traces the vast conspiracy to the Jewish Chassidism of Chabad.
The only actual evidence offered is the favorite one of conspiracy theorists, X knows Y and they met with Z. Therefore they are all conspiring together. Drawing these connections with Chabad is as meaningless as the Mormon versions of this conspiracy theory.
Since Chabad is highly present in Russia, New York and particularly among wealthy but unaffiliated Jews, the connections are meaningless. You might as well point out that X and Y both attend Evangelical churches. But conspiracy theories thrive by appearing to introduce readers to a hidden world. The Jews, and today Orthodox Jews in particular, are perfect for that purpose.
The media left likes to pretend that it's above such behavior, but as the Politico article reminds us, it isn't.
