The mainstream media establishment is very jealous of its privileges and furious that other media outlets are being allowed into its privileged territory. So every now and then it freaks out.
Here's the New York Times, "an unmistakable insult to democratic ideals
And CNN, "un-American."
What occasioned this hysteria? A press gaggle by Sean Spicer. The media's shrill outcry insists that Spicer included only friendly outlets and barred mainstream media ones. That's a shameless lie.
ABC, Washington Post, McClatchy and Reuters were in the room. Time, AP and USA Today threw a tantrum and refused to attend. Media outlets had a pool option. Which is normal. The outlets that were left outside included the Daily Mail, generally friendly to the administration.
But what really infuriates them is that outlets they consider illegitimate were in the room. And they weren't. We're expected to pretend that BuzzFeed is a legitimate media outlet and the Washington Times isn't.
The vast majority of Americans don't care about the media's latest tantrum.
