One of the more blatant examples of the liberal double standard toward Muslims is the way they get a pass on blatant bigotry. Obama lectures African Christian countries on gay rights, but not Muslim countries. Obama would never visit a church that spoke out against gays. But it's okay when Muslims do it.
The Baltimore mosque President Obama has chosen as the first U.S.-based mosque to visit during his presidency has deep ties to extremist elements, including to the Muslim Brotherhood.
The mosque is a member of a network of mosques controlled by the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), a Muslim civil rights group named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation terror case. Several executives with that organization were convicted of sending money to aid the terrorist group Hamas.
An imam who served at ISB for a total of 15 years has also been a leading member of the Muslim Brotherhood network and has worked for an Islamic relief group that was designated as a terrorist organization by the Treasury Department in 2004.
Imam Yaseen Shaikh, its British-born resident scholar who appears to run its educational system, is not a fan of gays. But that won't stop Obama from paying his respects.
During an hour long diatribe, Shaikh called homosexuality a psychological disorder that has no place in Islam or society. He also lamented that gay rights groups have “hijacked” political discourse.
Much of what Yaseen Shaikh is generic enough. You can hear the same thing at a lot of churches and synagogues. But that would be enough to bring down liberal politically correct fury on them. Though Shaikh also repeatedly suggests that Muslims need to learn from gay groups how to advance their causes and how to make the unacceptable, seem acceptable.
The Islamic Center of Baltimore also held an event a few years ago featuring Imam Zaid Shakir.
Also listed was Zaid Shakir, a former Yale chaplain, who said that Islamic law is superior to the Constitution because "If Islam is the basis, the kafir [non-believer] won’t be equal with the Muslim. The Christian or the Jew will be a dhimmi [second-class citizen]. They won’t be equal with the Muslim.”
Shakir wrote, "As Christians and Jews of this country have rejected the divine law and created their own secular system of a rule, the legal and political system of America is sinful and constitutes open rebellion against Allah. For a Muslim to join with the Jews and Christians in this system is to join them in their rebellion against Allah. Allah explicitly orders against this.”
During his 2001 speech at the Zaytuna Institute, Shakir said Muslims in America should be “laying the administrative and logistical infrastructure, putting that into place so that if we did have to fight—physically— we could translate that fighting into tangible political gains.”
Again, not likely to trouble Obama. Neither is killing American women in uniform.
Radical Islamic cleric Zaid Shakir, a frequent guest speaker at CAIR events, tells his Muslim audiences: “Jihad is physically fighting the enemies of Islam to protect and advance the religion of Islam. This is jihad.”
Acceptable targets of jihad, he says, include U.S. military aircraft.
“Islam doesn’t permit us to hijack airplanes filled with civilian people,” Shakir once told a Muslim audience. However, “If you hijack an airplane filled with the 82nd Airborne, that’s something else.”
Civilians can be a legitimate target, he says, if “there’s a benefit in that,” according to “Muslim Mafia,” co-authored by former federal agent P. David Gaubatz and investigative journalist Paul Sperry, author of “Infiltration.”
Even “old elderly men” and “women who are conscripted” – including Israeli and American women in uniform – are eligible enemy combatants in jihad. “This is Shariah,” Shakir asserts in a CD recording of one of his lectures in 2001, which the authors obtained from a radical mosque bookstore in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Also not a problem. Nothing seems to be when it comes to Islam.
