The "interesting" thing about the kind of blank check that the media gave to Obama is that lying becomes a cost-free enterprise. Obama can lie and know that no media outlet of any size will loudly and consistently broadcast that he's lying. Individually reporters may maintain their credibility by occasionally calling him on it, but there will be no sustained narrative or outrage over it.
Which is why he can just casually drop lies like this.
It’s the assessment of the Israeli military and intelligence community. The country that was most opposed to this deal that acknowledges this has been a game-changer that Iran has abided by the deal that they no longer have the sort of short term breakout capacity that would alow them to develop nuclear weapons.
Not quite the message coming out of Israel.
Israel on Friday bitterly rejected US President Barack Obama’s claim that its officials now support last year’s nuclear deal with Iran. Far from accepting Obama’s assertion, the Israeli Defense Ministry compared the year-old accord to the Munich Agreement signed by the European powers with Nazi Germany in 1938. …
But this is all the more surreal, because even Obama admitted that Iran would have a near zero breakout time capacity.
Defending an emerging nuclear deal, President Barack Obama said Iran would be kept a year away from obtaining a nuclear weapon for more than a decade, but conceded Tuesday that the buffer period could shrink to almost nothing after 13 or more years
Obama, whose top priority at the moment is to sell the framework deal to critics, was pushing back on the charge that the deal fails to eliminate the risk because it allows Iran to keep enriching uranium. He told NPR News that Iran will be capped for a decade at 300 kilograms — not enough to convert to a stockpile of weapons-grade material.
“What is a more relevant fear would be that in Year 13, 14, 15, they have advanced centrifuges that enrich uranium fairly rapidly, and at that point, the breakout times would have shrunk almost down to zero,” Obama said.
So in essence, Obama is contradicting his own admission. He can't keep his lies straight.
