Why a Military Coup was Turkey's Best Hope for Human Rights

It might have seemed absurd that Turkey's latest attempt at a military coup took place under the banner of restoring human rights, but the simple fact of the matter is that Turkey's military is the closest thing the country has to a guarantee of human freedoms against Islamic theocracy.

The AKP Islamic theocracy currently running Turkey is led by a mad tyrant who believes that he is the leader of the revival of the Ottoman Caliphate, whose prisons groan with political prisoners, and who has his hand in the rotting pie of Islamic terrorism from Israel to Iraq.

In the past the Turkish military had removed aspiring mad Islamist sultans before. They have had no luck getting rid of Erdogan, an Islamist madman so noxious that even his former pal Obama has disavowed him.

And it seems that little has changed. But the defeat of the coup is not a defeat for democracy, but a victory for theocracy and for the state sponsor of Islamic terror.
