Hillary Clinton has a problem.
Elizabeth Warren as VP might be enough to make the far left of the party forget its brief romance with Bernie Sanders. But Elizabeth Warren appeals to no one beyond the Bernie base. And Hillary Clinton beat Bernie with black voter turnout.
In a national election, that might very well be the difference between victory and defeat. This is a very strange election, but voter turnout will still likely determine it. And consider that Hillary has been reduced to running on Obama's legacy, Cory Booker might be the next best thing to Obama.
Except for the part where the left violently hates him.
The trouble with Cory Booker is that he's likable, charismatic, charming and stands for absolutely and utterly nothing. He's not left-wing or really any wing. He has some of the same skills as Obama, but he's purely careerist. He runs on the same kind of technocratic cult of personality change, but that's also largely empty and hollow.
Booker played up to Jews, then abandoned them over the Iran vote. He promised to turn around Newark, but just used it as a platform for his aspirations for higher office.
That same hollowness makes Booker a perfect choice for Hillary. He's a hollow politician and fits perfectly into the VP slot. He stands for nothing and so slots into Hillary's empty campaign.
