"Wise Latina" Supreme Court Justice Endorses "Forced Labor"

Obama's Supreme Court nominees have only two qualifications.

1. Radical leftist politics

2. Identity politics

Knowledge of the law is a disqualifier. Respect for the Constitution hasn't been on the table in generations anyway. So why not have some forced labor?

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor said Monday that all lawyers should be required to provide pro bono legal services.

“I believe in forced labor” when it comes to improving access to justice for the poor, she said during an appearance at the American Law Institute’s annual meeting in Washington. “If I had my way, I would make pro bono service a requirement.”

Now the funny thing is that a far earlier Supreme Court invented the notion that defendants were entitled to representation at taxpayer expense. As usual with the left's civil rights, an entitlement becomes a cause for enslaving someone else to carry it out. Sotomayor is just being quite literal about it.

Of course if someone suggested that she should help the poor by being forced to pick up trash on the street for two hours a day, that would be an outrage.

Imposing forced labor on lawyers (or anyone) is a violation of the Thirteenth Amendment, which forbids “involuntary servitude” as well as slavery.

Constitution, Shmonsitution. Social justice for social slavery is all we need now.
