If Ruth Bader Ginsburg had passed away and President Trump were proposing to replace her with conservative justice, the media's outraged tantrums would at least be understandable.
But Justice Kennedy was a Republican appointee and though, often unreliable, somewhat of a conservative. His decision to retire and allow one Republican president to replace the position filled by a previous Republican president (which in turn had been previously held by Powell, a semi-conservative Nixon nominee) is not a cause for outrage.
Compare that to the lack of Republican outrage when Obama replaced Justice Souter and Justice Stevens, in theory Republicans (though well on the liberal side on the court) and Republican appointees, with Kagan and Sotomayor.
Nobody threatened a civil war over it. Or shouted that the sky was falling.
But when Trump has the chance to replace two Republican justices with Republicans... the left is screaming bloody murder as if they had been deprived of a seat when the only thing that's happening is that the Supreme Court is maintaining its partisan consistency.
Like every aspect of the left's civil war, this attitude is fed by a monstrous sense of entitlement, cloaked in incoherent outrage. Beneath all the hot button issues is the conviction that only the left deserves to govern and rule.
There's a term for that. Tyranny.
