Of the four stages of leftism, being so ashamed of being American that you claim to be Canadian is the third stage. The fourth stage is visiting Europe and bragging about how much you hate America.
James Comey has completed all four stages in record time.
Former FBI Director James Comey said on Friday during a book tour stop in Dublin, Ireland that he wanted to tell Irish customs agents he was Canadian due to the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" immigration policy, the Irish Times reported.
"I am ashamed of the way my country has acted with respect of those children. I am disgusted, I am horrified, I am embarrassed, I’m ashamed. ... My wife and I were joking, not really joking; we wanted to tell the people on the customs line coming here that we were Canadian. And we were joking, but it's funny because it reveals a truth: I'm ashamed."
Comey's current approval rating is at 28 percent. So most Americans would be fine with him going Canadian.
But that would mean he would have to pull his faux presidential shtick of posting photos of himself in classical American settings while pondering how much of an advance he can get for his next book. Comey would have to switch to glamour photos in Ottawa. A contemplative Comey in a lumberjack uniform in British Columbia would be truly okay.
And then when Trudeau is out, Comey will tell Irish papers that he's ashamed of being Canadian.
