Trump Park was announced in Kiryat Yam, or Town by the Sea, at the end of last year. Now Ambassador David Friedman has announced its dedication.

Trump Park is a number of Israeli locales scheduled to be named for the President of the United States. Here was Trump's reaction last year.

President Donald Trump this week sent a letter of thanks to Kiryat Yam mayor David Even Tzur for naming a new park in the northern city after him.

The park, which city officials decided to name after Trump following his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, will be located in the center of the city.

In his letter, Trump noted that it was a "distinct pleasure" to have visited Israel on his first international visit as president, and noted that Israel is "an oasis of hope, democracy and prosperity in the Middle East.''

The president also sent his "very best wishes" to the mayor and the residents of Kiryat Yam.

Kiryat Yam is a Haifa suburb previously best known for its mermaid sightings. It's a somewhat working class area with lots of immigrants. Which in Israel means that it votes conservative.

Mayor Shmuel Sisso is a member of Netanyahu's Likud Party and was the Israeli consul in New York so he's probably well acquainted with Trump from those days.
