The NFL Chose Football Fans Over the New York Times

"The N.F.L. Kneels to Trump," is the New York Times official editorial. I'll skip delving into the soggy mess of Orwellian lies, word games and twisted reasoning inside it.

Let's cut to the common sense instead.

Why would the NFL kneel to Trump? And why now, of all times?

The NFL didn't kneel to Trump. It did make an attempt (insufficient) to kneel to football fans because of the bottom line. The NFL was reacting to disastrous numbers. It had a choice between kneeling to the New York Times or to the more patriotic Middle American crowd who put the billions in its pockets.

After trying to appease the left, it's trying once again to resolve the crisis by keeping anti-American protests off the field. Not because it's patriotic, but to protect its bottom line.

Trump's pressure no doubt helped. If Obama were still occupying the White House, we would still be listening to lectures about, "Who we are". But the fundamental issue is that the NFL had a choice between its fans and the left.

Plenty of organizations and companies picked the left in such disputes. The NFL tried. And it's seen hard evidence that doesn't work.

Most of the bigots who hate America are not NFL fans. They're New York Times fans.

Running editorials like this one panders to the lunatic base of the New York Times. The NFL lost money kneeling to them. Now it's trying to get up on its feet.
