Joy Reid learned nothing from Anthony Weiner. Though she should have.
Had Reid just apologized and described her blog posts as the product of another era, her luster might have dimmed, but her career would have continued. Instead there's been an escalating train wreck. And, like Weiner, everything she did to defend herself only backfired further.
But what's behind Reid's behavior? Fear.
Reid was too afraid to admit that she had written politically incorrect things (which were not all that politically incorrect at the time). And that's the world that the left has created.
The media scares us with totalitarian fantasies about the right, like Handmaid's Tale, but they've already created a world in which people are afraid that politically incorrect views from over a decade ago will come out and destroy their lives.
And that's sad. It's also not America. But it's the totalitarian system that the left has created.
