Trayon White is the Washington D.C. councilman who claimed Jews control the weather. And then things got worse from there. He skipped out on a Holocaust Museum tour. And had donated to a Nation of Islam anti-Semitic event.
D.C. Councilmember Trayon White is under fire after he reportedly used constituent funds to make a donation for a Nation of Islam event in which leader Louis Farrakhan made anti-Semitic remarks.
The Washington Post reports that White (D-Ward 8) made a $500 donation on Jan. 29 from his Constituent Services Fund, which is supposed to be used for community causes to benefit D.C. residents.
The Ward 8 council member said he did not know about the donation, but defended the Nation of Islam’s work in the District.
And he's done apologizing.
Who could be defending him now? The same people who will defend any anti-Semitic figure or cause aligned with the left. The anti-Israel left's human shields who have Jewish last names.
Jews United for Justice, which had been one of the first to endorse White, put out a statement defending him.
Sophie Ellman-Golan, the Women's March human shield, had previously been used to back Tamika Mallory's attack on Starbucks for working with the ADL (which was not at all motivated by the ADL's condemnation of her support for Louis Farrakhan and refusal to condemn his anti-Semitism.) And Ellman-Golan unleashed an incoherent intersectional rant in defense of Trayon White.
It’s upsetting that Trayon White left the Holocaust Museum halfway through his tour. It’s also upsetting that @washingtonpost sent a reporter to follow him and wait for him to fuck up in some way...the same way Black people are followed in stores when they’re trying to shop.
Because reporters following a politician in the middle of a scandal is racist. And it only happens to black politicians.
Reporting on the misdeeds of a black politician is just like following black people in stores.
I’m not saying that Trayon White didn’t make a mistake by leaving the Holocaust Museum early. He did. I also won’t say there isn’t antisemitism present in his behavior. It probably is. But Trayon White isn’t uniquely antisemitic. Antisemitism is everywhere. It’s all around us.
So we should ignore it.
Consider the way Trayon White’s mistakes have been fixated on. Consider who is allowed a redemption story and who isn’t. Consider who we’re focused on as a threat to Jews, on the very day that neo-Nazis are gathering in Georgia to celebrate Hitler’s birthday.
Whataboutism for everyone!
We should call out antisemitism. We should address and examine it wherever it shows up. We should do the same for anti-Blackness, and that includes the anti-Blackness that may be present in our responses to antisemitism. Antisemitism is all around us. Anti-Blackness is too.
Condemning anti-Semitism by a black politician is racist. (Unless he's a Republican. In which case it's completely okay.)
After Sophie Ellman-Golan was done embarrassing herself, her parents and her entire political movement, it was time for an even lower species of pond scum to play. Rafael Shimunov.
Rafael Shimunov, the man behind Jews for Linda, embodies that many-faced interchangeability.
At a reading for an anti-Israel book, Rafael is identified as a member of JFRE. At a protest, he’s described as a member of If Not Now. He works for WFP and claims to be a “Jew of Color” (currently a lucrative proposition in an increasingly racist and anti-Semitic left) because his family emigrated from Uzbekistan. Every political organization that he worked for seems to have been funded by Soros.
That would be Linda Sarsour. Leftists with Jewish last names who will defend leftist anti-Semites is a booming industry.
The Working Families Party has a history with anti-Semitic candidates. And Rafael Shimunov tried to defend the indefensible. As only a leftist can do.
"The result is a massive amount of energy among many different types of DC folks and some Jewish leaders to attack him and drag and humiliate him," Shimunov whined. "Trayon White himself grew up actually hungry. Actually without proper clothing."
That's what happens when the Jews control the weather.
"From that, read about his life, how he took to coach sports, worked with clergy, and mentored young people. Read about DC," the WFP bigwig went on.
And let's not forget his WWI track record and his love for his dog.
Then, Rafael Shimunov, claimed that the Holocaust Museum was some sort of fiendish trap. "There, you can judge by the reporting, this under educated Black man was followed by rich white people waiting for him to say something offensive accidentally. Over and over again, each exhibit a new trap."
I hadn't realized that a history of the Nazi persecution of the Jews was really a trap. You have to be a member of the Working Families Party to have a mind that sick and twisted.
Also much of the Post's reporting on White came from Fenit Nirappil. Not a white man.
That's followed by Shimunov equating poor black neighborhoods in D.C. to the treatment of Jews by the Nazis. "But the biggest gut punch here for me is that we are pretending Jewish education is showing brutal historical treatment of Jews in ghettos and ignoring that those ghettos exist today - in DC - and you stepped over them to attack a man representing them against all odds."
These two things are exactly the same. America is just Nazi Germany.
The left hates America. And it hates Jews. It's a violently anti-Semitic movement. It always was. And it always will be. That's why it defends anti-Semites.
