Last year, the White House Correspondents’ Dinner had begun its long retreat into irrelevance. This will only clinch it. Nerd Prom is no more. Its existence was always a reminder of the thin line between advocacy and the media. It embodied the establishment, it reflected its vision of a world in which Democrats were changing the world while Republicans were always buffoons.
President Trump has refused to play that game. And without that game, the media's consensus collapses. All that's left are the furious flailing attacks on the president that fill the media.
