The anti-Israel movement is part of a larger anti-Semitic movement. And its human shields of Jewish ancestry knowingly defend anti-Semitism.
If Not Now's support for the Women's March leaders being criticized for their Farrakhan fandom is a useful demonstration of this fact. An anti-Israel group like If Not Now or J Street is also there to provide cover for anti-Semites.
J Street dragged its feet on condemning Rep. Danny Davis after he praised Farrakhan and spoke of the "Jewish Question."
Rafael Shimunov, a member of the anti-Israel hate group, If Not Now, admitted that Farrakhan hated Jews, but tweeted about "NOI's actually powerful and needed liberation work". If Not Now, which harasses Jewish charities in support of racist Islamic terrorists, complained that the reaction by Jewish institutions "to this incident has been outsized" and that "it is unsettling to see” Jewish organizations “criticize Black and Muslim activists and politicians for any association with Farrakhan."
The problem isn’t NOI’s racists, its racist supporters and its apologists, it’s the Jews noticing it.
Shimunov also tweeted, "By sticking by those unfairly painted with antisemitism we are putting that trust on the line as a movement of progressive Jews. and on that line is all of our power which many of us gladly (and never without threats to our lives, jobs, family) wager to defend our friends and allies @lsarsour @TamikaDMallory and @msladyjustice1. And that, at least for me, will never waiver when any of those sisters must be where there sisters and brothers are. Never. But there is more. there are must be complexities. And there must be simple truths. With complexities I've seen first hand (even as a person who is not Black) what NOI means and the undeniable impact on daily survival of people I've loved."
If Not Now, when will we praise an anti-Semitic hate group?
