Mayor Bill de Blasio has failed to fulfill his campaign promise to get the horses out of Central Park. He has however succeeded in imposing a fine on all plastic and paper bags. Moving on from this proud achievement of socking it to working families, Warren Wilhelm aka Bill de Blasio is now handing out political food boycotts.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is urging New Yorkers not to patronize Chick-fil-A because the company opposes gay marriage.
"What the ownership of Chick-fil-A has said is wrong," he said, according to DNA Info. "I'm certainly not going to patronize them and I wouldn't urge any other New Yorker to patronize them. But they do have a legal right."
You can almost hear the "for now" at the end of that sentence. I'm sure most New Yorkers take their food advice from a failed mayor under FBI investigation who just taxed their grocery bags.
This issue was already polled. And, like most polls, De Blasio won't like it.
In a poll released Wednesday by Quinnipiac University, 82% of New Yorkers said Dan Cathy's criticism of same-sex nups should not impact Chick-fil-A's ability to gain permits in the city.
The poll also found that 83% didn't want public officials discouraging New Yorkers from patronizing the restaurant.
Bill de Blasio's attack can only make Chick-fil-A more popular.
