Racist Color Blind Casting In Disney Musical Leads to Cultural Appropriation

This story is as dumb as this headline. Thank you lefty identity politics. Your existence has made us all dumber.

Social justice activists at a New York high school successfully shut down a production of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” after a white student landed a lead role.

Protests of the production began when an African-American student quit Ithaca High School’s musical production due to the role of Esmeralda being given to a white classmate.

“It shows you that theater wasn’t made for you," the student told the Ithaca Journal. "And it shows you that, if you can’t get the parts that are written for you, what parts are you going to get?”

Esmeralda is a gypsy. She was never written for black people. The two groups have nothing in common... except possibly not being white (depending on how you define white). But in identity politics, everyone "brown" is interchangeable. As is everyone who is white.

And that's ridiculously racist. But we're just getting started.

“At best, this is cultural appropriation,” the student group wrote, alleging racial bias within the Performing Arts Program at IHS, and “at worst, it is whitewashing, a racist casting practice which has its roots in minstrelsy.”

But if it's cultural appropriation, it's appropriating the work of Victor Hugo, who was white, and according to the current Intersectionality Nuremberg laws, should never have been allowed to write about non-white people.

And gypsies and black people share the same culture the way that Norwegians and Japanese people do.

The Ithaca City School District announced it canceled the musical in an attempt to be “more inclusive and culturally responsive” in their “efforts to eliminate institutional biases.”

This is why we can't have nice things. Or any things except gushing articles about how Black Panther is better than Shakespeare by people who haven't seen it.

The cancellation of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" came after a series of efforts by Students United Ithaca, a group of five Ithaca High School students. Three of the students were cast in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" before dropping out.

5 people can make a difference. For evil.

"Our goal was not just to shut down the musical," Maddi said. "We want to get a socially conscious director to replace the current director so that everybody can participate.”

That's the left in a nutshell.
