The Dems on the House Intelligence Committee, in Congress and across the establishment fought tooth and nail to prevent the release of the Nunes memo exposing abuses in the surveillance of Trump associates based on Hillary Clinton's opposition research. Meanwhile Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee voted unanimously to release the Schiff memo.
It makes it very clear who wants transparency and who wants to engage in a cover-up.
Republicans are willing to release information about the process. It's the Democrats who want to traffic in innuendo through the media while avoiding any oversight or investigation of the material it's based on.
The Dems would love nothing more than to keep leaking smears from their allies in the DOJ, FBI and Team Mueller. What they don't want are the facts.
The latest vote makes it clear that the American people have a right to see both sides and decide. The Dems don't want anyone seeing any other sides. Or even finding out how the sausage was made. They didn't want us to be talking about FISA courts, unmasking requests or any of the details of Obama's Watergate.
The media has tried to make it seem as if the Schiff memo release is some sort of win over Republicans.
It's not.
Unlike the Nunes memo release, the vote was unanimous. Republicans want to have a public debate. Democrats want to spy on us from the shadows and then use the media to smear the victims.
In both votes, Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee took a stand for transparency. While Dems on the House Intelligence Committee made it clear that they will only support the release of information when it benefits them.
