What if major stories broke and the media just chose not to report them. Or to bury them somewhere on the back page.
That hasn't been a hypothetical question for a long time. The media buried the Holocaust to protect the FDR administration. It buried JFK's scandals and even pushed post-assassination conspiracy theories. It buried Bill Clinton's scandals. But in the Obama era, it didn't just bury them, it singlemindedly pursued narratives and counternarratives without regard to what was actually happening.
That's why you'll see roughly 2 billion Mueller stories in the media (half of them from Jeff Bezos' Washington Post) and 3 days in, almost zero reporting on the release of a photo featuring Obama with Farrakhan. The Nation of Islam leader has praised Hitler and runs a violent racist hate group. The kind of organization even most lefties find indefensible.
Yet the media blackout continues.
The only national media outlet to report on it was Newsweek. The New York Daily News ran a local editorial. And now the New Yorker has a brief essay, which dwells on Farrakhan's staying point, but depicts Obama as a victim of racism who might have been undone by the photo.
It goes without saying that a photo of Trump and David Duke would have been at the top of the news every day. Media lefties may say that it's old news. Obama has only been out of office for little over a year.
But okay.
When George H.W. Bush, who hasn't been in office this century, was accused of groping women. Even though he's 93, has Parkinson's and currently may not even be able to speak... the media blew that up into a major scandal. It's unclear what the point of the scandal was since Bush is not remotely politically active. Unlike Obama, who very much is. And he certainly didn't have Parkinson's when he was palling around with one of the country's biggest bigots.
Why was Bush's alleged groping a major story, but not Obama meeting with a virulent hate group leader whom he had denied having a relationship with?
Because we don't have a free press. The media is an arm of the left. It reports only what fits the agenda.
And so here we are. Day 3. What if a major story broke and the media refused to cover it. Now please tell me more about how President Trump is endangering the free press.
