There's been a rash of hijab attacks loudly reported in the media. And they repeatedly turn out to be a hoax.
Here's the latest one.
‘I felt really scared and confused’ — girl attacked twice by man who cut her hijab in Scarborough - Toronto Star
MUSLIM GIRL ATTACKED BY MAN WHO CUT OFF HER HIJAB - Newsweek
Here's this lovingly recreated piece of fake news.
Khawlah Noman was walking to school with her younger brother on Friday when she felt somebody pull the hood of her winter jacket down. Protected from the rain was the 11-year-old’s light blue hijab — the target of a man holding a pair of scissors with a blue handle.
Over the next 10 minutes, she said she was attacked not once, but twice, by a man who is now a suspect in a Toronto police hate crime investigation.
“I felt really scared and confused,” she told reporters Friday afternoon, recounting the traumatic incident in a Scarborough neighbourhood near Birchmount Rd. and Sheppard Ave. E.
“I can’t imagine how afraid she must have been,” said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in an unprompted statement of support for Khawlah at a news conference in London, Ont.
“I want her and her family and her friends and community to know that that is not what Canada is and that is not who Canadians are.”
It was nice of the precocious PM to take a break from explaining quantum mechanics to comments on an alleged slight tear of a hijab. Jews facing Muslim anti-Semitism at the hands of his Islamic migrants would love that same treatment.
Also here's Kathleen Wynne, Canada's own medusa.
This is a cowardly act of hatred, and it has no place in Ontario. This does not represent who we are. We must stand firm in our support of this young girl who was assaulted simply for wearing a hijab.
No, we must stand up and oppose her. And hoaxes like these.
Despite the press conference and the PM, it proved to be fake news. Very fake news.
Toronto Police spokesman Mark Pugash said it appears the incident never happened.
The investigation is ongoing.
“After a detailed investigation, police have determined that the events described (in original reports) did not happen,” police said in a release.
It’s not clear if any charges of making a false report to police will apply.
Of course she won't be. And using a young girl is a clever move by the Islamists. Much like drug dealers using children.
Who could have guessed it was a hoax? There's been a long string of them.
They struck at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Two white males ran out of a car, tore off her hijab, hit her and stole her wallet. One of these mysterious muggers was wearing a Trump hat.
The president of the Muslim Students Association claimed that the attack had rattled the campus. The ACLU was “outraged” and was as eager as the “victim” to connect the attack to Trump. It was even more outraged that the imaginary attackers had, “shouted slurs and wore Donald Trump clothing.”
It was only hours after the election and the media eagerly jumped on the story. But the 18-year-old Middle Eastern student had made it all up and police charged her with filing a false report.
A month later they stuck again. Yasmin Seweid, an 18-year-old Baruch College student in New York City, claimed that “three white racists” tried to tear off her hijab, shouted Trump’s name, along with, "Look it's a fucking terrorist", "go back to your country" and "take that rag off your head".
“The president-elect just promotes this stuff and is very anti-Muslim, very Islamophobic, and he’s just condoning it,” she whined. CAIR got into the game. A hate crimes investigation was launched.
And the NYPD found that she had made it all up. Yasmin now faces charges for her deception.
On yet another November, a year before the nameless Muslim in Louisiana faked her hate crime, an 18-year-old Muslim woman in the UK claimed that she had been assaulted because of her hijab. The supposed victim, a Miss Choudhury, turned out to be a liar and was fined for wasting police time.
There's a pattern here. And it's about enforcing hijab norms through fake hate crimes.
