As Hollywood's left pivots from the post-Harvey #MeToo accountability to standard identity politics stuff, this is a stupid story that's making the rounds.
Mark Wahlberg was paid $1.5 million for reshooting his scenes in All the Money in the World, three people familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak publicly about it tell USA TODAY, while Michelle Williams was paid an $80 per diem totaling less than $1,000.
That works out to Williams being paid less than 1% of her male co-star.
The male part has nothing to do with it. The star does.
Mark Wahlberg starred in 6 movies that broke $100 million in the last 6 years. Michelle Williams hasn't done anything like that. I'm not too sure she ever played the lead in a hit movie at all.
And so, she was getting paid a whole lot less. It has as much to do with gender as the difference between how much Megyn Kelly gets paid and how much I get paid.
Reshoots payments were probably in the contract. Wahlberg's people made sure their guy was going to get paid because he's in demand. Williams did not have that kind of leverage.
(Full disclosure, I can't stand either one of them. But facts are facts.)
