Sourer grapes really don't get any sourer. But CNN is pioneering new waves of pettiness in its attacks on President Trump. If accusing him of having two scoops of ice cream or being afraid didn't work, CNN is going to the mattresses.
It's going to skip the White House Christmas Party.
Adding fuel to its growing feud with President Donald Trump, CNN told POLITICO it will be boycotting the White House Christmas party for the media this year.
“CNN will not be attending this year's White House Christmas party,” a CNN spokesperson said. “In light of the President's continued attacks on freedom of the press and CNN, we do not feel it is appropriate to celebrate with him as his invited guests. We will send a White House reporting team to the event and report on it if news warrants.”
This "statement" should have ended with "So there!". And a spiteful little stamp.
Trump hasn't attacked Freedom of the Press. He has attacked CNN. Just as CNN has attacked him. The media exists in a privileged world of no punchbacks in which it's allowed to attack Republicans, but they aren't allowed to fight back.
Sorry, no.
But the Chanukah party should be the real scene. Under Obama, it was a devil's night of T'ruah and J Street's chummiest Israel haters. This time around, the Chanukah party might actually be Jewish. Though you can bet there will be If Not Now members outside chanting, "Heil Hamas."
So CNN will have something to cover.
