That's consistent enough.
We know Obama didn't care. Hillary even attacks him over it. But her own DNC operation, which she controlled, didn't care either. The hacks only became significant retroactively when
A. Some actual damage was inflicted on the DNC by the release of emails.
...and more importantly...
B. Hillary lost. And that led to a frantic search for someone other than Hillary and her people to blame. Had Hillary won, this would mostly be a non-issue.
Donna Brazile, the former DNC head, who is a casualty of both A and B, and is pushing back against Hillary and the Dems who dumped her with her new book, confirms that the DNC did not care.
Donna Brazile says in her new book the Democratic National Committee (DNC) went against professional advice and sat idly for a month while Russians stole data because primaries were still underway in a number of states.
In May, when CrowdStrike recommended that we take down our system and rebuild it, the DNC told them to wait a month, because the state primaries for the presidential election were still underway, and the party and the staff needed to be at their computers to manage these efforts,” Brazile wrote in her new book, “Hacks.”
“For a whole month, CrowdStrike watched Cozy Bear and Fancy Bear operating. Cozy Bear was the hacking force that had been in the DNC system for nearly a year.”
One reason that the hacks disproportionately damaged the Dems is their own incompetence.
The hacks targeted both Republicans and Democrats. But, unlike Podesta, Priebus was apparently a little more careful about clicking on phishing emails. And the RNC, for all its problems, was better run than the DNC. The RNC would not have responded to its system being compromised by shrugging and saying that they would wait a month.
But after the election, the Dems have cited the damage caused by their own incompetence as evidence that the Russians were backing Trump and sabotaging the Dems. Except that we know the Russian influence operations encompassed a fake Black Lives Matter organization and plenty of identity politics outreach efforts to the left.
The Dems have spent the aftermath of the election rewriting their own incompetence as a conspiracy theory. That revisionism has allowed them to focus their political anger on Republicans while avoiding any actual accountability. But Brazile, who did pay the price for being on Team Hillary, is wrecking that carefully constructed agenda.
