Sierra Club Puts Solar Panels Ahead of Preventing Rape

The left claims to care a lot about fighting sexual assault. And standing up for black people. It just happens to care about green a lot more. Green money and Green Energy.

That is what's behind the Sierra Club's furious tantrum over Energy Secretary Rick Perry's comments about how energy development in Africa can make life safer for women and children.

The Sierra Club said Energy Secretary Rick Perry should resign over his Thursday statement that fossil fuels can help prevent sexual assault.

"It was already clear that Rick Perry is unfit to lead the Department of Energy, but to suggest that fossil fuel development will decrease sexual assault is not only blatantly untrue, it is an inexcusable attempt to minimize a serious and pervasive issue,” Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune said in a statement.

“He does not deserve to hold office another day with these twisted ideas, and he should resign from his position immediately before he causes any more damage."

At an event on Thursday morning, Perry said fossil fuels will be important for electrifying parts of Africa and that the expansion of energy there can help reduce sexual assaults.

Brune and the Sierra Club aren't even offering a counterargument. Instead the statement fumes with outrage over Perry's comments without ever pointing out what's wrong with them.

I call this the "Binders of women" effect based on the left's outrage over Romney's remarks about looking for female candidates. No lefty could actually rationally explain what was wrong with the line. You were supposed to already know what was wrong.

The attacks on Perry carry the same assumption.

But it is unfortunate that the Sierra Club puts its solar panel obsession and the plight of some lizard over helping prevent sexual assault.
