Shrinks Who Need Shrinks Protest Trump

Who knew you could get both a good demonstration of Trump Derangement Syndrome and the need for the Goldwater Rule at the very same time.

Some 125 psychologists and other mental health professionals marched along lower Broadway Saturday to demand that President Trump be thrown out of office, based on a constitutional clause allowing presidents to be ousted when their cabinets decide they are ” unable to discharge the powers and duties” of their job.

This is why they're psychologists (and other mental health professionals and their secretaries and their window washers) instead of constitutional scholars.

You don't see Trump coming in and knocking the heavily chewed pencils out of their hands. Maybe they could refrain from trying to overturn elections based on their misreading of a Salon blog post?

“We can sense the power of Trump’s underlying fear that he is worthless and weak by how intensely he resists and retaliated against any criticism,” said Harry Segal, a Cornell University psychologist.

"We can sense". Yes that sounds so scientific.

Michelle Golland, also a clinical psychologist, agreed. “We’re actually suffering from his narcissistic personality,” she said. “He has no empathy. You can feel it, the way he spoke about the San Juan mayor… She has PTSD and our president mistreats her. She is re-victimized. That is a narcissist.”

Michelle isn't just satisfied with remotely diagnoising one politician she never met, she has decided to diagnose two.

The marchers, dressed in black and wearing red plastic strips around their necks reading “Danger,’’ were led by psychologist Peter Fraenkel of City College, who carried a drum and beat out a funereal rhythm.

This is why butterfly nets were invented.

But this exercise in projection is a good reminder that namecalling isn't just for second grade boys. It's also for mental health experts who can telepathically "sense" other people's feelings.
