Senator Dianne Feinstein is the last person you expect to get a dose of reality from on gun control.
And yet, in response to a question about whether any law passed would have stopped the Vegas shooting, her answer is clear and to the point.
"No."
Despite peddling a ban on bump stocks, Feinstein knows that banning them would not have stopped it. She concedes that background checks would have been useless against a guy with nothing in his background.
That doesn't mean that Senator Feinstein couldn't envision laws that would do it. She's just well aware that there judicial firewalls at issue And everything else is gilding on the rose.
