Obama gave a State of the Union address in which he attacked Republicans. And South Carolina governor Nikki Haley offered a rebuttal... in which she attacked Republicans.
The media is making the most of her lines about, "the siren call of the angriest voices". That's funny coming from a woman who hugged violent racist Al Sharpton.
During Thursday’s “Politics Nation” on MSNBC, host Al Sharpton showed clips from an event honoring Charleston shooting victims, which included exchange between he and Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) that ended up with each other embracing in a hug.
In his speech, Sharpton said, referring to Gov. Haley, “She usually sees me out the window marching on her.”
“If you were protesting outside my window,” the governor replied when it was her turn to speak, “if you would have come inside and held out your hand, I would have hugged you.”
Sharpton quickly responded, “I’ll hug you back.”
Shortly thereafter, the two hugged each other and Sharpton, looking back on it, said “It’s a step in the right direction.”
If embracing racist murderers is a step in the right direction, where's Haley's hug for Dylann Storm Roof?
Haley also said, "We removed a symbol that was being used to divide us, and we found a strength that united us against a domestic terrorist and the hate that filled him."
But she still has no strength to be united Sharpton's racism. And Sharpton still seems to like her.
If we're going to denounce hate, how about we actually denounce all hate. Not just the kind that's unfashionable while hugging the kind of hate that is fashionable.
