ESPN Boss: We're Not a Political Organization

Really? That would be news to about everyone.

But apparently the Kaepernick Sports Network is not a political organization. Since approximately 5 seconds ago.

"ESPN is about sports." It is "not a political organization." That's what ESPN president John Skipper said in a memo to staffers on Friday afternoon, after a bruising week for the sports network.

"We have issues of significant debate in our country at this time," Skipper acknowledged. Yes, he said, ESPN upholds certain values about tolerance and diversity. Yes, ESPN's employees are also citizens who have opinions about politics. But the network has social media policies for good reasons, Skipper said, because personal comments "will reflect on ESPN."

"In light of recent events," he said, "we need to remind ourselves that we are a journalistic organization and that we should not do anything that undermines that position."

Bit late for that. Just ask all the conservative viewers who left, cut the cord and didn't even say goodbye on the way out the door.

ESPN has been obnoxiously pushing politics at the expense of sports. Like so much of the media, it went full social justice. And you never go full social justice unless you want to turn into Gawker 2.

Now ESPN is in the middle of blowback from its social justice push. There's a price to pay for being radical left-wingers. The price is that your war on everyone to the right of Stalin eventually backfires.
