The Open Society Foundations is George Soros' machine for international transformation. In some ways the OSF have more power than many governments. And in some ways it functions as an embryonic world government, advancing certain policies, moving and removing governments, and setting a global agenda.

Leftist meddler extraordinaire George Soros has named President Obama’s far-left ambassador to South Africa, Patrick Gaspard, as acting president of his philanthropic network, the Open Society Foundations (OSF), effective at the end of the year.
Gaspard is from the Congo, he became a community organizer in New York, worked on the campaigns of David Dinkins, Jesse Jackson, Howard Dean and then Barack Hussein Obama. Obama made Gaspard the Director of the Office of Political Affairs, then it was on to the DNC, SEIU and then Ambassador to South Africa.
That last is a real accomplishment as there were few Obama ambassadors who didn't buy the job.
As Vadum points out, Gaspard is very much a product of the left's activist network. He benefited from the revolving door between government activism and non-profit activism. That makes him an ideal figure for bridging both worlds.
It's his tenure as the Director of the Office of Political Affairs that really stands out. It sums up what Soros expects of him. Despite the radicalization of the Dems, much of the donkey party still lacks the radical roots. What Gaspard brings to the table is the political experience to advocate from a government office for a radical agenda. And that has always been the ultimate goal.
Non-profit activism is a bridge to government power. The left's great challenge has always been turning activism into institutional power. It's done so extremely effectively in the non-profit world. But Obama broke new ground on hollowing out and transforming government in the same way.
The Gaspard pick shows that Soros' real target is still control of our government.
