Hillary Clinton: Benghazi Aimed at Undermining My Accomplishments

I would ask what those accomplishments might be, but I'm almost afraid of the answer.

“Take the Benghazi tragedy—you know, I have one of the top Republicans, Kevin McCarthy, admitting we’re going to take that tragedy—because, you know, we’ve lost people, unfortunately, going back to the Reagan administration, if you talk about recent times, in diplomatic attacks,” Clinton told Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s “Today."“But boy, it was turned into a political football. And it was aimed at undermining my credibility, my record, my accomplishments.”

The murder of a US ambassador by terrorists is an unusual event. But there were three reasons why so much of the blame fell on Hillary

1. Stevens, among others, had warned of unsafe conditions in Benghazi. And the State Department had not only failed to take meaningful steps to either secure or evacuate the compound, but it instead made a number of destructive moves, including outsourcing security to a terror linked militia that played a role in the attack, (and then reportedly failing to pay it).

2. The attack was the outgrowth of an illegal regime change operation in Libya championed by Hillary and her cronies as a springboard for her presidential campaign. Obama/Hillary had no serious plan for the aftermath of the war except, "Hold elections and let the Islamists take over." That's because Libya was an outgrowth of their even more disastrous Arab Spring policy of empowering the Muslim Brotherhood.

3. Hillary's response to the attacks was to launch a cover-up that blamed and jailed a YouTube video producer, claimed that the attack was a protest, told the families that the guy who made the video would be arrested, and continued to push this same lie rather than address what really happened.

Any one of those alone would be damning. The three taken together are devastating.

But in Hillary's narcissistic echo chamber, Benghazi only matters because it impeded everyone from recognizing her many accomplishments. No one has been able to name those so far. But she certainly got a lot of people kicked.
