We've been talking a lot about Antifa lately. But that's just the violent tip of the iceberg. It's a fringe movement that loathes most of the left. Its hobbies include randomly smashing store windows. And the media quickly turned on Antifa once it was clear that they were an embarrassment.
That's not the case with the emotional abuse and psychological trauma of the activists that big lefty funders pay to bus in.
During a Thursday-night town hall in Bethlehem, Pa., Simon Radecki asked Senator Pat Toomey, “We’ve been here for a while. You probably haven’t seen the news. Can you confirm whether or not your daughter Bridget has been kidnapped?”
The initial question was followed by a long, awkward pause until Radecki finally added, “The reason I ask is because that’s the reality of families that suffer deportation … ”
Toomey called the question “ridiculous” and Radecki was removed by police and later charged with disorderly conduct and disrupting a public meeting.
Salon and assorted lefty activists are defending this. Because there's little they won't defend. We found that out with Antifa. Decency appears to be mostly extinct.
And there's a context to this very specifickind of harassment. GOP legislators have been targeted with threats to their families.
A voice mail that threatened U.S. Rep. Steve Stivers and his family landed a Westerville man in federal court Wednesday, charged with a crime that carries a 10-year prison term if he is convicted.
“We’re coming to get every goddamn one of you and your families. Maybe the next one taken down will be your daughter. Huh? Or your wife. Or even you.”
"This is how we're going to kill your wife."
That's the message Rep. Tom Garrett (R-Va.) said he received in a series of recent threats that targeted him, his family and even, at one point, his dog. And it's the reason, he said, that his town hall here in this sleepy Virginia community on Tuesday night was ringed by law enforcement.
This isn't a coincidence. It's a very specific tactic meant to intimidate and terrorize Republicans by threatening to hurt their families. This is movie villain stuff.
Finally, let's take a look at Radecki's bio. He's a professional activist.
Deputy Regional Field Director - Mainers for Responsible Gun Ownership
Pennsylvania Competes - Field Organizer
Field Organizer - One Springfield
Field Organizer - Al Franken for Senate 2014
What was Simon doing, far afield, at Toomey's town hall? You don't have to guess too hard. This is an organized program of political terrorism. And those behind it need to be held accountable.
