The media's position on anyone to the right of Noam Chomsky is "damned if you, damned if you don't."
If Trump hadn't visited Texas, the media would be attacking him for not caring. But visiting Texas means that they have to contort themselves into attacking him for going. That's a tricky argument, but the media, like a drunk tourist in a Thai poisonous frog juggling competition, will do its best to make it work.
CNN called in Jen Psaki, Obama's spokestoad, to attack President Trump for "prematurely" visiting Texas.
Psaki: It's too soon for Trump to go to Texas
Don't get me wrong. It is important for every President to visit communities that have been affected by natural disaster. President Trump should visit Texas, eventually. When the worst may still be coming and the local authorities are in the middle of rescue and recovery, it is hard to understand why he is going today.
But it's never too soon for Jen Psaki and CNN to go to hell.
I can't imagine why the President of the United States would go to the site of a disaster. It's incomprehensible.
Then President Bernie Sanders chimed in from the People's Republic of Crumbistan.
Sen. Bernard Sanders on Tuesday said it’s probably too early for President Trump to be visiting Texas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, but said the main focus right now should be on recovery efforts.
“Too soon for the president to be there? Probably it is, but let’s not get into that,” Mr. Sanders said on “CBS This Morning.”
Then he called for unity.
“We are one nation, and we have got to stop the type of divisions that Trump and others are bringing about, trying to divide us up,” Mr. Sanders said
Isn't it awful when politicians try to divide us.
And then MSNBC jumped into it. Along with other media outlets, as you can see in this Free Beacon compliation.
But wait... the media attacked Bush for not landing in Louisiana.
If Only Bush Had Landed In New Orleans
Bush now knows he should have landed.
That he didn't a year ago was perfectly understandable. The New Orleans airport had only one runway open and it was clogged with planes bringing in emergency supplies to the city, 80 percent of which was under water. The president would have had to go by helicopter around the city and region, and all the choppers were still on rescue missions. And he might have gotten in the way of emergency crews.
Moreover, the Secret Service thought it was too dangerous in New Orleans for Bush to tour the damage. So Air Force One merely dipped to give Bush a look from the air and then flew on to Washington, leaving the impression that the president didn't care much about the plight of New Orleans, a predominantly black city, and its people.
White House officials allowed news photographers to take photos of a grim-faced Bush looking out an Air Force One window but the PR gambit backfired. Many Americans saw the photo, which was widely disseminated, as evidence that Bush was too distant from the misery below. In a 2010 interview with NBC, Bush conceded that allowing the photo to be taken was a "huge mistake" because it made him seem "detached and uncaring."
Bush declined to visit the devastated area right away. White House aides said at the time that Bush didn't want to cause disruptions in rescue and recovery efforts by diverting security and communications to himself.
This is how dishonest the media is.
