Sounds like a plan. A really terrible plan.
MGM Resorts would do less damage if they set a giant pile of money on fire. At least they wouldn't be actively causing harm. But instead MGM Resorts would like to cause some harm.
MGM Resorts Chairman Jim Murren issues letter to all employees decrying hatred and bigotry.
I'm not sure why this is even needed. But it is trendy. And this baffling letter decrying bigotry (had anyone accused MGM Resorts of bigotry) while discussing free speech and racism (again, why?) concludes with "You have my commitment that we will vigorously and zealously continue to reject hate speech and hate-based actions in any form. To that end, MGM Resorts will match donations you choose to make to the following organizations. "
The list of organizations begins with the SPLC, a scam group which actually has caused violence with its poorly researched and partisan hate map. But there on the list is also... the Council on American Islamic Relations. Because the best way to fight bigotry is to fund it.
Take it away, Nihad Awad. Director and Founder of CAIR.
At a March 22, 1994 symposium at Barry University in Florida, he declared: “I used to support the PLO, and I used to be the President of the General Union of Palestine Students which is part of the PLO here in the United States, but after I researched the situation inside Palestine and outside, I am in support of the Hamas movement more than the PLO.”
On another occasion, Awad wrote in the Muslim World Monitor that the 1994 trial which resulted in the conviction of four Islamic terrorists who had perpetrated the previous year's World Trade Center bombing was “a travesty of justice.”
At a 1998 event organized by the Muslim Students Association at Georgetown University, Awad said that U.S. policy in the Middle East had been corrupted by the fact that “many Presidents”—including then-President Clinton—“are servants to Israel” and to “the political authority of Jewish interests.”
And CAIR, it's an unindicted co-conspirator in terror funding.
Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich sent the letterlast month to four members of Congress who asked for details last fall on how CAIR was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the terror-finance trial against the Holy Land Foundation and its former officials.
He included trial transcripts and exhibits "which demonstrated a relationship among CAIR, individual CAIR founders, and the Palestine Committee. Evidence was also introduced that demonstrated a relationship between the Palestine Committee and HAMAS, which was designated as a terrorist organization in 1995."
MGM Resorts: We fund terrorist supporters to show we care.
