This isn't really a new development. The mounted Roosevelt statue accompanied by an American Indian has been rubbing lefties the wrong way for some time now. But it's a good reminder that this movement won't end with tearing down Confederate memorials. Or Columbus statues. The protesters aren't Union supporters opposed to the Confederacy. They hate America.
General Lee is just an easy target. As is Columbus. They won't stop there.
On Monday, more than 200 SJW zealots held a protest inside the American Museum of Natural History in New York City to take down the supposedly “racist” statue of former President Theodore Roosevelt. The protest’s organizers, NYC Stands with Standing Rock and Decolonize This Place, also called for Columbus Day to be renamed Indigenous People’s Day.
That's already happened in a number of cities. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio expressed discomfort with Columbus Day, but the Italian-American community is large enough that it's currently a no-go.
Marching around the museum in a fit of self-righteous rage, protesters carried signs that read “BLACK LIVES MATTER,” “DECOLONIZE THIS MUSEUM,” and “ABOLISH WHITE SUPREMACY.”
The devout left-wing activists moved from exhibit to exhibit in a trance-like motion burning sage and exuberantly playing Native American music.
The general rule is that the proportion of American Indian exhibitionism by the protesters is in direct proportion to their lack of any actual Amerind heritage or tradition.
But, the thing is, at some point they are likely to succeed. The Museum of Natural History will pick up pure leftist management. Enough identity politics groups will turn their attention to the issue. And then before you know it, it's happening. This is why the left needs to be stopped. It's not possible to make any meaningful compromises with it because it has no natural stopping point.
And yes, at some point leftists will channel their inner Taliban and blow up Mount Rushmore. Because there really is no stopping point.
