That's right. It's Keith Ellison again. Making the most of his Netroots appearance. And for once he isn't betraying America to Islamists. Instead he's reenacting Team America World Police.
“North Korea is a serious thing,” Ellison said in response to a question from an attendee at a late afternoon panel at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Atlanta. “You have this guy making bellicose threats against somebody else who has very little to lose over there. Kim Jong-un, the world always thought he was not a responsible leader well he’s acting more responsible than this guy is. And what I’m telling you is once you start seeing missile launches, you’re going to see—the time for cranking up the anti-war machine is right now."
The anti-war machine for what?
Letting Kim Jong-un nuke Guam? Letting North Korea develop nuclear weapons that can take out Minnesotta?
And what exactly does Ellison view as Kim Jong-un's responsible behavior? The threats to attack Guam or the mass murder of his own people?
But Keith Ellison is just pushing the same larger message of the opposition percolating through the press and politics. He's just being stupidly blatant about it. Susan Rice suggested that Trump and Kim Jong-un are equally bad. But Ellison goes one better. And it's a step too far even for the far left.
After leaving the panel, Ellison retracted the initial remarks in an exchange with Dave Weigel, a reporter for The Washington Post while The Daily Beast was present.
“That was one of those I wish I’d not said,” Ellison said as he was leaving. “It’s tailor-made for somebody to misuse."
As usual, Keith Ellison says terrible things and then blames those who might misuse the terrible things while refusing to take responsibility for them. But at least for once those terrible things don't involve the Nation of Islam.
