Bernie Sanders'ugly anti-Israel positions have allowed Hillary to claim the moral high ground on Israel. But it's a high ground heavily dependent on a short memory.
Clinton said she and Netanyahu “get along well” and, that when allies like the U.S. and Israel have differences, which are inevitable, she would deal with them “quickly, respectfully and responsibly.”
Yes, I think we all remember how quickly, respectfully and responsibly she responded in 2010 when some Israeli committee approved one stage of a multi-stage housing plan in Jerusalem (which has yet to be built.)
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Friday that Israel's announcement of new settlement construction in disputed territory in East Jerusalem was "insulting" to the United States.
The Israeli Interior Ministry said the construction plan was approved by a district committee, and the public can express objections to it over the next 60 days.
"I mean, it was just really a very unfortunate and difficult moment for everyone -- the United States, our vice president who had gone to reassert our strong support for Israeli security -- and I regret deeply that that occurred and made that known," Clinton said Friday.
She added that she has no reason to believe that Netanyahu knew about the announcement during Biden's visit but added, "He is the prime minister. Like the president or secretary of state ... ultimately, you are responsible."
Sure. Much like Obama is responsible for housing plans made in New York City. (But of course Hillary Clinton isn't responsible for Benghazi.) That led to Hillary Clinton yelling at Netanyahu for 43 minutes.
FAREED ZAKARIA: Bibi Netanyahu. You said you had a complicated and it sounded like a difficult relationship with him.
HILLARY CLINTON: Well, I have to say, I've known be a long time and I have a very good relationship with him, in part because we can yell at each other, and we do. And I was often the designated yeller.
This is confusing logic even for Hillary Clinton. Generally being yelled at is not the definition of a good relationship. Maybe it's Hillary Clinton's definition of a good relationship, but I don't really want to delve there.
