There's a paradox.
Islamist groups have been widely mainstreamed. Especially on the left. The media treats them as civil rights groups. Politicians come a'courtin. But there's the law enforcement angle. And there are serious underlying problems when you look at their connections and at their finances.
That's what hit ISNA's former affiiliate in Canada.
Federal regulators have revoked the charity status of a Canadian Islamic organization after an audit uncovered problems including tax receipts that were issued for donations to a Pakistani group linked to armed militancy.
ISNA Islamic Services of Canada was stripped of its charitable status for “non-compliance,” according to records obtained by Global News. Authorities also revoked a related charity, the Canadian Islamic Trust Foundation.
Both are former affiliates of the Islamic Society of North America-Canada (ISNA-Canada), and shared its Mississauga, Ont. address. Politicians of all stripes have attended ISNA-Canada events, notably Justin Trudeau in 2013 and, in April, Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale.
It's not unusual or surprising. Kashmir, like "Palestine" is one of those obsessive Islamic terror causes. And Islamists are intertwined with terrorists even when they claim that they're non-violent.
Incidents of this nature have been uncovered in the US. Plenty of Islamic charities were busted. And the media, and eventually Obama, rushed to their defense. When a certain kind of behavior becomes habitual, then the law has to be discarded or ignored.
The law was belatedly applied in Canada. For now.
