The media's ethics are a joke. If anyone needed convincing of that, the rehabilitation of Dan Rather and his Time Traveling Vietnam War Computer is the perfect case in point.
In MSNBC’s search for a spokesman of sacrosanct ethics and patriotism, they turned to an unlikely source: Dan Rather. The fake news forefather joined Chris Hayes on his Tuesday All In program, opining that lying by Trump Jr. and other Trump officials raised “a real ethical question” about their character. Moreover, he argued, it lead to very real questions about their “patriotism”:
I don't think that we need to rehash Rather's lack of ethics. He has kept defending his infamous Fake News story despite the minor problem of its utter untruthfulness because it was a convenient way to attack President Bush. But let's revisit Rather's patriotism.
Dan Rather's campaign against Bush had a number of low points. We remember the fake documents that turned out to have been the product of Microsoft Word... long before its existence. But then there was Rather's interview with Saddam Hussein. The interview was a pre-war push to undermine the US effort against Saddam Hussein.
Now the media has Rather on to discuss ethics and patriotism. Who better to discuss patriotism and ethics than a liar and a traitor?
