When we last met Emmanuel Macron, he was boasting to his countrymen in France, how he had intimidated President Trump by shaking his hand.
French President Emmanuel Macron said his extended handshake with Donald Trump before a NATO summit was “not innocent” and intended to show he did not make even small concessions.
In an interview with the Journal du Dimanche published on Sunday, the French leader said his interaction with the American head of state was “a moment of truth.”
“My handshake with him was not innocent,” Macron said. “We need to show that we won’t make small concessions, even symbolic ones, while not overhyping things either.”
Now Macron was caught elbowing his way into a photo with Trump at the G-20 circus.
French President Emmanuel Macron left his position during the family picture to place himself next to US President Donald Trump as German Chancellor Angela Merkel watched on.
Mr Macron jostled and kissed his way to the front in an awkward reshuffle.
He finally joined Trump on the far left fringe at the G20 summit leaders' group photo.
But not without hugging Trump. Don't worry though. The hug was not innocent. It showed that he wouldn't even make small concessions.
Macron knows that he can't fix anything. So he's borrowing a page from the Dems anti-Trump book. If you can't deliver, you can still always be anti-Trump. That's the low bar the left has set for itself.
