The left and the right are both in disbelief that James T. Hodgkinson isn't being labeled a terrorist by the FBI.
Conservatives are calling James T. Hodgkinson, the Bernie supporter who targeted Freedom Caucus members at baseball practice, a terrorist. But the left is also upset about the lack of a terrorism label.
The left's reasons for this are somewhat bizarre unless you understand identity politics. The central tenet of their hateful belief system is that white people bear the burden of an original sin of white privilege. And so the only reason that James T. Hodgkinson isn't being called a terrorist is because he's white. If he were a Muslim, it would be different.
James T. Hodgkinson certainly intended to terrorize. And he was also clearly influenced by left-wing propaganda. But unlike prominent left-wing terrorists in the past, it's tricky to try and place him within any kind of movement.
But the left hasn't thought things through enough to consider the consequences of demanding that it be labeled a terrorist nexus. Instead some of its columnists keep insisting that James T. Hodgkinson was a white man. Therefore it's a problem of white violence.
