If you want a reality check on just how disturbing the situation has become, a year ago a rally against Sharia would have been largely ignored by the media. It would not however have been met with street violence. Now the left has normalized street violence in response to conservative gatherings.
The ugliness was predictably worse in more left-wing cities. Ted Wheeler in Portland tried to stop Act for America's rally. The protest indeed couldn't go forward. And that is tragically telling. There's no free speech in Portland. Moving the rally to Seattle didn't help either. Leftist street violence followed it there.
Leftist violence exploded at a number of March Against Sharia protests. And this has now become routine. The peaceful protest is becoming extinct. And the driving force is left-wing radicalism and the complicity of the left in radicalizing its own abuses. While the media provides political cover.
The First Amendment is being further eroded. Obama attacked Freedom of Religion. His thugs have now gone to war against Freedom of Assembly.
