Sometimes you just can't improve on a mainstream media headline. This is one of those cases.

"People who read the news more likely to be Islamophobic"

People more in touch with reality are more likely to be worried about real life problems. Islamic terror is a real life problem. If you discover it exists, you are more likely to be worried about it.

In other news, people who are more aware that eating rotten food makes you sick are Rottenfoodaphobes. Also people who are aware of a hurricane moving inland because they watch the news are more likely to be Stormophobic as opposed to those who remain blissfully unaware of it.

Awareness of a problem means that you can react appropriately. And even though the media heavily whitewashes each Islamic terror incident from A. Let's not jump to any conclusions to Z. Muslims fear backlash, the simple awareness that these attacks keeps happening gets one ranked as an Islamophobe.

People who read the news are more likely to feel angry towards Muslims, a new study has found.

Whether liberal or conservative, researchers found more avid news consumers showed both increased anger and reduced warmth towards members of the Islamic faith.

"However we find that the association of prejudice towards Muslims with more media exposure holds across the political spectrum, and is specific to Muslims.

"This indicates that it is widespread representations of Muslims in the news that is contributing to lower Muslim acceptance, rather than any partisan media bias. The media, regardless of politics, tend to publish violent stories because violence sells.”

Also because driving over 50 people in a truck or shooting 50 people in a gay bar or flying planes into the World Trade Center killing thousands of people is "newsworthy". Unlike the Islamophilic fluff that the media constantly tries to compensate with.
